Electric charging station

One of my Semester projects was to design a electric charging station for electric vehicles. The project was in cooperation with the Fraunhofer Institut and the company Langmatz. The concept should fit in modern citys and we had to find a way to protect the plugs from vandalism. So my team member and i desinged the charge tube.

Here the doors of the staition are closed. You log in with a card or a NFC chip in your cellphone. then you choose the plugsystem you need and the corresponding door opens. You plug in, and save the cable in a little clip under the door. The door closes and and the station will load your vehicle.

On the top see a lighting led bar which shows you the loading process.

Last week we presented our idea to the people of Langmatz and Fraunhofer. On this link you see the other teams and a report about the projects.

This weekend we present the concept at the Werkschau 2012 in the University in Pforzheim.

The vegetable is finally painted. After some layers of paint the figure is how i want it. Under the color is some primer. Now i´m searching for the right method to produce more of them. here you see the single steps how it became a screaming colorful figure.

Laser sintering broccoli design toy

I got my model of the little broccoli i bouild some days ago. I built it in CAD and sent the datas to an laser sintering company. Today i got it by post, so now i can start soon to give "him" some color.

I think i will work with colors like in the rendering, a dark green for the head and a soft green for the body.

May i introduce to you, the Screaming Broccoli. If you take a look at my last post, you see some pictures of vegetables with funny plastic eyes. Out of that idea, giving vegatables a face, i got the idea of making my own design toy. Since a long time i want to make one of that figures but i had no idea how it should look like.

I would lie if i would tell you there is a reason why the figure screams. I think it makes it more funny.

This is the process how a real broccoli becomes a toy. The CAD screenshot in the middle is an earlier model, as you see the screaming on the right is much better.

As next i will finish the CAD model, than i will make a 3D print out of it. So in this sense, stay hungry, stay foolish for broccoli.

These two guys are the result of a funny evening with some friends in my kitchen, that happens when you combine some vegetables with plastic moving eyes and some creativity.

But please dont think this is the only thing i do right now, currently i work several product design projects, i will post some results in a while. And of course there is work to do with kollabo art trading, we are planing our next exhibition for February.

So there will be more about product design and i hope you also see an alien in the right (it´s a celery) and a hand waving tree in the left picture.

Last Weekend was the first art vernissage of Kollabo. During two days we presented 13 paintings and 3 fine art prints. Thanks to the newspaper and blogs which wrote about us, we had successful two days in the gallery "Brötzinger Art" in Pforzheim.

I had an idea in my mind today which i had to visualize. On the left you see the key sketch, right is a short CAD model. The frame is similar to one i build some month ago, but this time i worked with some little "knicks". They have the same angels, the form should give the frame more dynamic. I know that would be later potential places for a frame break, but it´s not impossible with the right construction. more soon.

After nine months and eigth gallerys in two countrys my painting "Warp" is finaly back. It´s a wonder that after that big trip it has no single scratch or something. I´m happy that everthing went so well with this touring exhibition, and i got an other offer for a gallery, what a good day.

Name of the new painting is now, dias de muertos.

Here is the transformation my newest painting had. It´s definitely the one i spent the most time on, and it´s the spontaneous Painting i did. I had no plan how it should look like in the end.

About the size, it´s 2 meters long and about 80 cm high. The frame is out wood, the material of the canvas is nessel.

Project with Porsche Design Studio

Last week my 6.th term started with a short project in cooperation with Porsche Deisgn Studio. My group and i designed a Concept for Porsche. We had three days in which we developed the concept, designed, and presented our work to the audience. The work with my cool group and Porsche was a perfect start in the semester and a lot of fun.

Ortszeit art exhibition in Freudenstadt

The 3.rd Ortszeit art exhibition took place in the district office in Freudenstadt.

I like the position of my painting at the entrance, every visitor sees it and woman from the reception said it makes her happy.

It´s now the 3rd. of 8 exhibitions and the last in Germany, next stop is in Poland in August.

The painting from the exhibition is already sold but the one below is still available, here on the right side it was in the background of the Lox chair advertise from Walter Knoll.

Here is the comparison of the two bicycles. The main difference between them is the form of the frame, the rest is very similar. That makes them look like they are from the same brand.

It was a good practice to create this two bikes, i learnd much during this time. Thanks for all the feedback

Here is is the next part of the bike project.

I did an other photoshop render to see the bike in perspective. Like in the last bike i want to put the main point on the frame, this time i use light green for that, the rest of the bike gets darker.

Cad is still a lot of work, but some parts i took and modified from the racebicycle. Next post coming soon.

I started with an new bicycle, this time i do a mountian bike. It should fit into the same product family like my last one, so i take the same form language, now with more aggressive edges. the form of the rims is the same, these are 5 star rims, they make it more stable.

this here is the key sketch, the bike should look like this in the end, but not 100% i will change some details. more soon.

Here is the final rendering of my racebicycle. I dont build so much details because i want to keep it minimal, for the frame i took hard shapes and hard edges to let it look a bit rough, the color mix brings some dynamic and puts the main point on the frame. Maybe this is not the last bicycle design for me, during this short project i got many ideas for other designs, many i come up soon with an other bike...

Painting is since two and a half years my hobby. During this time i made this collection.

On the top you can see some of the early pictures i did.

In my last paintings i began to played more with the combination of forms and colors, i love to paint in this graphic style. During my internship i take a brake and continue painting when i start my 6th. term.

The positive feedback gives me the sign to keep up like this. I come up soon with some more work.

Orstzeit is on its second stage, now its in the district office of Calw (black forest). I went there to see how they present the paintings and installations. I liked the big atrium with the sunroof in the middle of the builing, it gives a perfect light.

Last month i lend one of my painting for a commercial fotoshoot, today i can present the result. It was for a furniture factory Walter Knoll, they have a new chair called Lox. In the backround is my painting from the 4th. semester.

Walter Knoll is presenting now in italy at the Salone de mobile, here is the brochure of them. The desinger of Lox is Pearson Lloyd, i like this chair and maybe i will get me one in black.

My semester project is done,...i changed the design a bit, now the speakers fit better to the console. For those who dont know, this is a stereo concept to visualize the music. here are the older posts.

On the "Werkschau" next weekend (it´s the design expo from my school) i want to present it with an 3d image on a poster. The topic is about music in 3d, so why not present it in 3d.

Here you can see the "air rings" in the water. They visualize the sound of the music like an equalizer, the color also change to the motion of the song. I made different design options, in this one here theres also light in the speakers. The volume and the titles you control with an remote.

Today at 8:00 pm starts the espacio nudage 2011 design event in Santander Spain. I´m here since yesterday and i totally impressed from the beauty of the city, it´s a mix between traditional and new things.

like the hall where we present our works, it´s in a huge new hall next to the old city library.

This is the way i present my 3rd term projet, the wheelchair for elderly people. I stay the hole week here, so as next i will post some impressions of the city, until then many greetings from Santander.

My new semester topic is a concept of a stereo system, the concept is about visualisation of sound. The Sound is visualized by "air rings" under water. The rings funcion as a equalizer.

I just started with the cad model, now i have to clear some design solutions.

My inspiration for this projekt was this video of dolphins, they make air bubbles under water.
